Overview

The Post Translation feature in Constellation enables you to translate post content into a language of your choice, directly within the Posts page. This allows analysts to quickly understand content published in foreign languages without leaving their workflow.

What You Can Do

  • Translate individual posts inline without navigating away from the Posts page
  • Select a preferred translation language from your user settings
  • View translated content displayed below the original post text in the data grid
  • Translate multiple posts simultaneously by applying translations to several posts at once
  • Persist translated content across sessions so previously translated posts do not need to be re-translated

Navigating to Post Translation

  1. Log in to Constellation.
  2. Select a project from the project selector in the top left corner.
  3. Click Posts in the left navigation menu.
  4. Locate the post you want to translate in the data grid.

Translating a Post

The translation feature is accessible directly within the Posts data grid.

Translating an Individual Post

  1. Hover over a post row in the data grid. A set of action icons will appear on the post.
  2. Click the Translate button (the translate icon).
  3. The translated text will appear below the original post content within the same row.

Note: The post is translated into whichever language is currently set as your preferred translation language. See Setting Your Preferred Translation Language for instructions on changing this setting.

Translating Multiple Posts

You can translate more than one post at a time. Click the Translate button on each post you want to translate. Translations are processed inline and independently, so multiple posts can be translated simultaneously without waiting for one to complete before starting another.

Pro Tip: If you are analyzing a large set of foreign-language posts, translate several at once to review them more efficiently within a single session.

Setting Your Preferred Translation Language

Your preferred translation language determines the target language used when you click the Translate button on any post.

  1. Click your user avatar or account icon in the top right corner of Constellation.
  2. Hover over Translation language in the user menu.
  3. Select your desired language from the list.

Supported Languages

  • English
  • Russian
  • Ukrainian
  • Arabic
  • Chinese
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Portuguese
  • Japanese
  • Korean

Note: Changing your preferred language applies to all future translations. Posts that have already been translated will display their previously saved translation and will not be automatically re-translated in the new language.

Translated Content Persistence

Translated post content is saved automatically and will be available in future sessions. You do not need to re-translate posts each time you return to a project.

Note: Saved translations reflect the language that was active at the time of translation. If you change your preferred language, you will need to re-translate posts to see the content in the new language.

Tips & Best Practices

For Efficient Translation

  • Translate multiple posts at once — Click the Translate button on several posts in sequence. Translations are processed in parallel, saving time when reviewing a high volume of foreign-language content.
  • Set your preferred language before beginning analysis — Configure your translation language in the user menu before you start reviewing posts to ensure all translations are consistent throughout your session.

Troubleshooting

"The Translate button is not appearing on a post"

  • Ensure you are hovering directly over the post row. The translate icon only appears on hover.
  • Confirm you are on the Posts tab and not the Clusters or Exclusions tab, as the translation feature is available on the Posts view only.

"The translated text is in the wrong language"

  • Your preferred translation language may not be set to the desired language. Open the user menu in the top right corner, hover over Translation language, and select the correct language.
  • Note that already-translated posts display their cached translation. To see the post in the new language, click the Translate button again after updating your language preference.

"A translated post is showing no translation"

  • The post may not contain translatable text (e.g., it may consist only of a URL or media).
  • Try refreshing the page and translating the post again.
